Scale CommonsSeattle / Washington

An early-stage initiative

Economies of scale without concentrated ownership.

We’re exploring shared productive infrastructure for independently worker-owned businesses.

The aim is to coordinate purchasing, productive capacity, market opportunities, and eventually investment while businesses retain their independent ownership and control.

Start with one useful thing.

The first step is to listen to worker-owned businesses, identify one recurring operational problem, and test a small shared service around it.

Purchasing, equipment and capacity sharing, or joint bidding may be useful starting points. What we pursue will depend on what participating businesses actually need.

Build scale.
Keep control.

Our starting principles are independent worker control, portable data, replaceable shared services, and accountable human decisions.

Scale Commons is in its discovery phase. We’re learning what has already been tried and where coordination could create practical value.

Let’s compare notes.

We’re seeking conversations with worker-owners, cooperative developers, financiers, and technologists about real operating needs and existing approaches.
